In North America, AGCO have seen a growing demand for high-horsepower wheeled row crop tractors machines with improved efficiency and productivity. By supplying parts directly into the facility in Minnesota, Majorfax will be helping to ensure AGCO have the flexibility to customise individual machines to individual customer specifications.

John, who joins the team as Senior Sales Manager, has over seven years foundry experience working for a high end automotive aluminium foundry in Coventry and a world leading supplier of prototype and motor sport castings in Shropshire.

Prior to joining Majorfax, John’s previous role was as a Senior Account Manager with a Coventry-based niche vehicle firm which manufactures some of the most expensive cars in the world.

In 2008 John headed up the team that was awarded the Cast Component of the Year Award by the Cast Metals Federation.
John and his team won the award for their work on an innovative and elaborate cast aluminium building façade for a development in Bury St Edmonds, believed to be the first of its kind. John was instrumental in overseeing all aspects of the project from the initial sales enquiry, casting development,production and delivery.

John’s role at Majorfax will include developing the company’s portfolio by targeting clients with an interest in sourcing machined and finished cast products, as well as promoting the company’s finishing and assembly services to new and existing customers.

John said: “I am extremely excited about joining Majorfax. This is a company which has a fantastic reputation coupled with limitless potential to grow and develop. I’m looking forward to promoting Majorfax to be the casting supplier of choice for all of our current and future customers.”

Having set off on the 6th of October from London Zoo the 145 miles were completed on the 8th when they finished at the Gas Street Basin in Birmingham.

Despite being sore and tired the two were delighted to have raised money for one of the UK’s leading learning disability – Mencap

In all, during the 10 day trip in September, Gary and Leigh visited 6 foundries. Our established foundries were visited to conduct spot checks on production coming through and to inspect samples of new jobs coming through – particulary 4 new grey iron counterweights for cherry pickers and a gearbox casing for a transmission system.

Quality was also addressed to ensure that products are right before being despatched to the UK by working together with the chinese foundry managers and shopfloor workers.

New foundries were also on the itinery. Visits were made to a grey iron and to a steel foundry which both have potential to become part of the Majorfax network.

Another two trips are planned before the end of 2011.

Majorfax, the UK provider of machined and finished castings has been supplying castings to Luton-based SKF, the leading global supplier of railway solutions, rolling bearing, seals, mechatronics and lubrications systems, since 2001.

As a result of their 10 year relationship the companies have provided a selected network of UK foundries with continued business in the manufacture of housings, front and end covers and axle box rear covers made from SG iron.

To celebrate a decade of working together, Majorfax presented a cake to the manufacturing firm at their Sundon Park Road premises.

Steve Cooper, managing director for Majorfax said: “We have developed a great working relationship with SKF over the last 10 years and all of the castings that we produce for them are machined and finished right here in the UK.

“We have a long history of working with the rail industry and our partnership with SKF has given us a great opportunity to strengthen our links within this sector, while also providing continued work for UK foundries.”

Along with Dave Feenan of AJ Law, they will will be undertaking the 145 mile ride from the 6th to 8th of October.

Both Steve and Dave will be raising money for their bike ride for Mencap.

Mencap is a charity which is extremly close to the hearts of everyone at Majorfax. Steve’s daughter Lucy has Smith-Magenis Syndrome, a disorder associated with learning disabiliites, sleep disturbances and behaviour problems.
